Marty May 03 Regarding Licensing in the Baptist ChurchRE: Heads Up

I read your apology and appreciate your concern for the forgivness of your church. Forgivness is our duty and not something we vote on. You are forgiven. I will relay your apology to the church. Are you living in Memphis still? I have not seen you lately. Marty, I do not doubt that you received a liscense from the church. I also do not doubt that the church blessed your decision to go and minister for a summer mission. A liscense is not recognized in any Baptist Church as anything except a local church's encouragement of someone who expresses a desire to become a minister of the Gospel. Ordination is what makes a person a minister, but even that is not a permanent designation. You have long ago violated one of our church's principles for being a Baptist minister with you first divorce and remarage. When someone is no longer involved in a local church or some church supported itenerant ministry, that person is no longer considered a Baptist Minister, He is a former Baptist minister. That does not mean that you can be useful in the Lord's work or that God will not forgive you for any of you offences (or mine). You know that I love you as a brother, and my brother has caused a storm for me. You are forgiven, but you are no longer a Baptist Minister. Hope to see you soon, Ron
I apologize. From the desk of Marty Parrish

Love to all of you. A few days ago I asked a question in public in which I used a word that is vagrantly repugnant to any decent human being and insults the very character of the female person. For having done this, I ask your forgiveness. I request that the leadership of the church discuss and debate this matter and ask for a full vote of the church body as to whether or not you will offer your forgiveness to me for having uttered such an unforgivable word in public. Sincerely, Your Brother in Christ,
Marty Tarrel Parrish Licensed to the Gospel Ministry First Baptist Church
PS. The web site looks great! Please pray for me every once in a while.
On the Manchurian CandidateMr. Obama was born in a state legally consituted as a state of the United States of America.
Mr. McCain was born in a place that the United States only "controlled" at the time.
The original founders insisted that any President of the United States of America had to be born within a state as consituted under the laws and protections of the Constitution of the United States of America, and its people in assembly, not someone born in an area controlled by the United States under military force or treaty agreements.
Questions: Do you think we should elect somone born in Iraq the day after the President declared major operations over, which implied the United States then had control of Iraq? Since we had better control in 2006, would that be an acceptable year for someone to have been born in Iraq and run for President of the United States in a year to come?
Marty Parrish May 02 With Malice towards noneI took no pleasure in repeating a disgusting word in public, on international tv.

Marty March 09 Me and JoeI guess I need to start posting information from my exploits on the Biden campaign in Iowa. I wish I had been a better "exploiter" and could have added a few more caucus goers, but it just didn't happen.
Many people have wondered about the low showing Joe made in the Iowa caucuses. It might help if you understood that a caucus is extremely different than a primary. In Iowa you have to win 15% of all the support at the caucus site to be considered "viable." In many, many cases and at many caucus sites, we had good numbers and loyal supporters. However, the turnout this year was almost double that of any previous caucus. Because of that one fact, when we had 40 people at a caucus site, in a normal caucus that could have represented 20% to 30% of the turnout. However, when the turnout at some of the larger caucus sites exceded 350 people, the 40 Biden supporters did not add up to 15%. Those 40 people were determined "not viable" at 11.4% of the total and were NOT COUNTED at all for Joe. They would either have to leave the caucus or support another candidate. And this is what many did, and exactly why Joe ended up with what looked to be a poor showing, but in actuality would have been great for a "normal" caucus year.
As everyone knows by now, though, this is not a normal election year. In fact, it is the most exceptional election we have had in the history of the United States in my opinion and I'm glad to have been an active player in it.
I'd be glad to support Joe again. Anytime. Anywhere. But for now, we have a new election with a wonderful candidate - Barack Obama. I look forward to thowing the current klutzes out of the White House and putting in someone with a conscience.
Are you ready? Fire it up!
Marty March 05 Look! It's A New Year!Well, Joe Biden didn't make it out of Iowa. Just thought I'd let all my friends know, it wasn't for lack of trying. Meaning....well,
You see I quit writing on my site in September because I became an official staff member of the Biden for President campaign. That's right. I practice what I preach and when I tried to preach Joe Biden into the White House, I decided to help him by literally volunteering on his staff. I left the Memphis area and drove to Des Moines, IA in July 2007. So a few of these blog entries were made while I was on the ground in Iowa. I decided once I became paid staff, though - and it was policy anyway - that I would have to cut back a bit on my clamor.
So, dear friends and family. That's why the long stretch between this entry and the previous one.
But now I'm back. I'm not on anyone's staff, so I guess I can say what I d*$# well please.
O' Obama!
O' .. O' .. Obama!!
I've got a new candidate to introduce to you. Can you guess his first name?
September 18 The General CornWallisMSNBC First Read discussed the Sign War at the Harkin Steak Fry. In my opinion, they missed the best sign of the show: The General CornWallis for the wall of corn display the Biden campaign built.
In his honorable glory...The General Cornwallis!
September 09 Talking about Biden: Petraeus 'dead flat wrong' on Iraq - Conflict in Iraq - MSNBC.com
Senator Biden hits the nail on the head concerning this adminstration's continued failure in Iraq. To use a little country slang, It ain't gonna git no better no time soon. Senator Biden was on Meet the Press today. Read the full story. Quote

September 06 Talking about Bush just playing us with 'troop withdrawal' - Countdown with Keith Olbermann - MSNBC.com
Children like to say, "Liar, liar. Pants on fire!" Kieth Olbermann is not apologetic at all in his criticism and attack on George Bush. In fact, he warns we can't afford another 500 days under this President. Bush is "playing" with us and it is too expensive. He is costing us our blood and treasure. Quote Bush just playing us with 'troop withdrawal' - Countdown with Keith Olbermann - MSNBC.com August 31 Promises to Keep...15 on NY TimesI wonder if John Edwards book for which he got nearly $800,000 in advance fees from Murdock's group has sold as many copies as Joe's?
August 28 Joe Biden Kicks Butt. He don't kiss it.
I had the chance to speak with a Democrat from Iowa the other day. He was one of the many, many people in Iowa who are being bombarded daily by tv ads, emails and telephone calls from various presidential campaigns camped out in the state. Although he declared himself, as most do in Iowa at this time, as "undecided," I think the man lied to me. "The thing I like about Biden," he said, "is that he kicks butt. He don't kiss butt!" Well, the man's mind may be undecided, but if he votes what he knows in his heart, he will vote Joe. So, for all those undecided's out there, what does your heart say?
For the record, here is Joe's response today to President Bush's FUBAR IRAQ: August 28, 2007Response to President Bush’s Remarks on Iraq to the American Legion ConventionSenator Joe Biden(As prepared for delivery)"Today, President Bush gave the second of two speeches on Iraq to set the stage for the progress report General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker will deliver to Congress in September. Last week, in his first speech, the President compared Iraq to Vietnam. The lesson he drew, apparently, is that we didn't stay in Vietnam long enough. I don't think too many Americans read history the same way. "Today, the President argued that we have to stay in Iraq to fight extremists. But the fact is his misguided and mismanaged war has fueled extremists in Iraq, Afghanistan and beyond. Last month, the intelligence community released a National Intelligence Estimate on "The Terrorist Threat to the U.S. Homeland." It was a devastating indictment of the Administration's failure to accomplish its most important mission: destroying Al Qaeda and the threat it poses. - From Joe Biden For President August 17 Joe at the Iowa State FairHere is a video clip of Senator Biden at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines this week. You can see the real Joe Biden.
August 16 Another DiSalvatore VideoHere is another great video, less than 2 minutes long, from James DiSalvatore.
August 14 Talking about Murdoch's News Corp. says former Sen. John Edwards benefited from book deal with the media company -
It appears John Edwards is a fake and a phony. I am not the first to point out that he is phony, but for a man who claims to be on the side of the poor, the middle and working class, Mr. Edwards is a fake. Worse he is a hypocrite. Mr. Edwards has criticized Hillary Clinton for taking $20,000 from Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, according to the following article. It turns out he criticized Mrs. Clinton when he KNEW he had taken $500,000 in advance fees from Rupert Murdoch and News Corp Subsidary, HarperCollins for "Home: The Blueprints of Our Lives," a book he may have had very little to do with...because his daughter and an aide got $300,000 for "expenses," indicating they may have done most of the leg work and "creative" writing. This stinks. I am disgusted that this man thinks he is qualified to talk about poverty, helping the middle class or even to run as a Democrat. The term "wolf in sheep's clothing" comes to mind. Mark my words: John Edwards is only in this Presidential race for John Edwards. Period. I would expect to see more information come to light on this matter in the next few days. I expect HarperCollins to do he right thing and release copies of the contract with Mr. Edwards, copies of invoices for expenses and I would like to know if taxes have been properly paid on the income...including the so-called expense money. On a tax return if you have income that is an "expense" re-imbursement, the only way to legally offset that income from taxes is to show the actual expenses you incurred and paid out. Otherwise, the full amount is taxable. I believe we, the American Public, should see transcripts of Mr. Edwards tax return for 2004, 2005 and 2006, plus the tax returns of his daughter and the aide who helped "write" the book. The following article is only one of several that are starting to hit the web. Search "John Edwards book advance" for more information.
August 11 Sept 10, 2001: Joe Spoke the TruthOn several different occasions in the past couple of months, Senator Biden has alluded to a speech he made the DAY BEFORE 9/11.
What did he say? Well, let me provide the quote that now seems to be very prescient:
Read it and weep Rudi Giuliani.
Marty August 09 Where's the Middle Class? Going Broke.I've spent the majority of my adult life preparing tax returns or training others to do so. I have taken note of the annual increase in certain refundable tax credits which were designed to make sure the working poor received enough income each year to be considered above the poverty level. The interesting thing is that, over the past several years, these tax credits have applied more and more to what traditionally has been considered the "middle class" of America. I know taxes aren't everyone's favorite subject - nor mine, either - but take it from me, you are going broke. You may be working your fingers to a nub and standing on your feet all day at three different jobs, but you are going broke.
Joe Biden has a plan to keep us all from becoming economic slaves to the upper 1% economic class and multinational corporations.
If you missed the AFL-CIO debate, here is the video clips of Senator Biden's comments. Notice he takes John Edwards to task and reprimands both Clinton and Obama for their Iraqi policiy statements.
In Iowa, Biden is climbing in the polls. This will be the election of miracles. Stay tuned.

August 03 Sometimes the Numbers Don't Count - YetMuch ado is made over current poll positions among the Presidential candidates. I have recently traveled to Iowa and can tell you, regardless of what the national polls say or what the Iowa polls say, it is my opinion and firm belief from personal conversations that at least 75% of the Democratic party leadership in the state is "undecided."
Sometimes the poll numbers reported in the press don't count. This would be the case if you called, as one of the main media outlets did towards the end of July, "likely" caucus goers. The problem with "likely" is these people a) can change their mind, b) are notorious for changing their mind at caucus time, and c) may not show up at the caucus if the snow is too deep. A possible fourth reason not to give a lot of weight to poll numbers so far ahead of the election is that some of these "likely" candidates and party leaders have been contacted soooo many times soooo early in the campaign that they may just be saying a name just to end the phone call.
So much of what is happening in the political campaigns at this point is nothing more than a beauty contest. Each candidate is feeling the others out; most are still trying to fine tune their positions on the issues.
I want to ask all my readers, if "experience" is a major issue in the selection of our next President, who among ALL candidates, both Republican and Democrat, has the most experience, has actually DONE the things he says, and has a plan in place for nearly every policy statement he makes? There is only one: Senator Joe Biden.
Just something to think about, which is exactly what Iowa voters are doing right now: thinking. They'll make their final decision as we get closer to January 14th.
Marty August 01 Ending Iraq: Adminstration Looking to Biden PlanIn case you missed the interview yesterday on NBC's Today Show, the following is from the Joe Biden website with links to full coverage and video:
“Look, I don’t care how they get there,” he said. “But the bottom line is there’s no possibility of establishing a strong central government based in Baghdad, based on a coalition of Sunni, Shi’a and Kurds. And what’s starting to happen is they are giving more emphasis to the local regions.” Sen. Biden said he believes he will win the Democratic nomination next year. Even though senators Obama and Clinton are ahead right now, he said that polls also show 92% of Americans haven’t decided yet who they will vote for.
I fully expect to see the Biden plan implemented to a great degree.
July 31 Fire Cheney. Joe WouldTalk of impeachment proceedings against Vice President Cheney have been making the rounds for some time now. In Senator Biden's new book, Promises to Keep, Joe makes it clear what he would do to Mr. Cheney:
You have to admire the Senator for his directness.
